Michel Thomas Language Learning Method - Is it right for you?

 The Michel Thomas Method is very different to traditional forms of learning a language - certainly very different from the way we learn languages in school in the UK. I personally love the way he teaches but it may not be for everyone so I've written the article below to help you decide whether it's suitable for you:

So is the Michel Thomas French course the right choice for you?

1. If you're going on holiday or on a business trip

The Michel Thomas French Course is the perfect place to start if you're soon to go on holiday or a business trip and need to speak French quickly. The foundation course consists of 8 hours of audio on cd or downloadable audiobook form. The course features the world renowned language teacher and psychologist Michel Thomas teaching French to two students and you become the third student in the classroom. Michel makes learning the language so simple, that you really start to believe it's much easier to learn than you previosuly thought. He gives you a lot of confidence and by the end you're dying to try out your French, so the course is perfect for anyone about to travel to France.

If like me you consider yourself to be a bit lazy then I highly recommend this course. Michel insists that you do not try to memorise anything, that you don't write anything down. He doesn't want you to use textbooks or any drills. Just relax, listen to the course and speak aloud your answers.

Another reason I highly recommend this course is because it's fun! I've found it genuinely enjoyable and indeed quite addictive! It has helped me rediscover the joy of learning.

On the other hand, it's probably not right for you if you prefer more conventional language learning methods such as textbooks, slideshows, repetition, etc.

Also, on a practical note, if you were thinking of buying an audio course to play in the car I would suggest that this is not the course for you as you are encouraged to pause the recording to give yourself time to think through the answer to the question Michel has posed.
